VI Peel

First Treatment Update

I recently decided to have a VI peel to address my issues with hyperpigmentation. A little backstory is that I suffer from cystic acne. As a teenager and young adult, I did not suffer from serious acne problems. As I got older and my hormones started having a mind of their own I developed this extremely painful form of acne. Cysts develop deep underneath your skin. This results from bacteria, oil, and dry skin cells trapped in your pores. This tends to occur in people with oily skin, which is a gift and a curse since the oil prevents wrinkles. Unlike other forms of acne, this particular form is extremely hard to clear up fast. You can use ice to try to shrink the pimple. Using a ph-balanced cleanser helps to remove any oil, dirt, or makeup from the face. Lastly topical treatments with at minimum 2% benzoyl peroxide. Some of us also have to take it further by taking oral antibodies and a daily vitamin A regimen. Cystic acne is not like a normal pimple that can be popped to remove the fluid inside. Instead you have an area swollen, sore and it breaks the skin just enough to leave a dark mark.

After dealing with several breakouts over this year I decided it was time for me to seek out a more invasive treatment to clear up my hyperpigmentation. Under the recommendation of my esthetician at Premier Med Spa, we decided the VI peel purify with precision plus.

VI Peel Purify With Precision Plus is the most comprehensive peel for acne and acne scarring. This advanced acne solution works synergistically to combat active acne symptoms while repairing dark areas on the skin. It helps to fade textural scarring and post inflamanitory hyperpigmenation caused by acne breakouts.

The treatment plan consists of peeling off the top layer of skin over 7 days. Depending on your skin and how it responses to the chemicals you might peel the entire 7 days while some may peel more so on days 3-6. For me, I peeled on days 3-5. On these days I tried to have very little interaction with the outside world as to not scare anyone :-). Luckily I had my mask to cover the bottom area of my face. After 7days I can see some improvement. The dark spots are not completely gone, but are fading gradually., I will do another round in about 4 weeks.

The first picture is the before, the process and the last is at 7 days.
