Hyatt Ziva Cancun

During the holidays I took a 5-day vacation to Cancun. This was my first time in Cancun and I was a little concerned with safety for various reasons. I didn’t want to worry about location, activities, and restaurants considering I didn’t know the city. For me when I am visiting a new country for the first time I choose to gravitate to all-inclusive resorts. For me it alleviates the anxiety of the unknown, everything is right there at your fingertips. After researching several different properties we settled on Hyatt Ziva.

Upon arrival at the chaotic Cancun International airport (if you have never been it is an experience) we finally made it to our car service. The ride from the airport to the hotel was roughly 45 minutes. The hotel is literally at the end of what I call hotel row. Covid safety precautions were in place not only for the resort but the entire city. Before you can get on the property there was a temperature check. I assume that if you were running a fever you would have been turned away. This was done anytime you arrived at the hotel. The bellmen were waiting with warm towels to wipe your hand and hand sanitizer to make sure you don’t bring any viruses into the hotel. We were then escorted to an exclusive concierge lounge to check-in. Since this property is kid-friendly it does offer part of the hotel for adults only called the Turquoize. Of course, this is part of the property where we stayed. Check-in was easy and the fact that you have a personal butler during your stay was the icing on the cake. Another perk of staying at the Turquoize is that there is a rooftop pool and bar that is accessible for Turquoize guest. Our room had a beautiful ocean view. All beachfront tower rooms come with a balcony with private hot tub and seating section. Our suite included one king bed and bathroom with floor-to-ceiling glass corner shower. The property is gorgeous surrounded on three sides by the Caribbean Sea. Some property features include private balconies stunning views in all accommodations. Other amenities include floating swim-up suites, a microbrewery, and private piers for snorkeling.Relax on pristine beaches or enjoy the three infinity pools. For an extra charge you can have the pleasure of a candlelight oceanfront dinner on one of the private piers. There was live entertainment every night that was family-friendly. If you are looking for more adult entertainment there is live music at the Sports Bar, a dj at Saasil Bar or the private roof top bar for guest of the adult only portion of the resort. There is a very nice fitness center fully equipped with cardio machines and weights. There also is a spa on the resort for those who would like a massage and facial. My favorite of the whole resort is the dessert shop that closes at midnight for those with a sweet tooth such as myself. If you have ever stayed at an all-inclusive they all have the standard options for dinning. Some chooses were steakhouse, French, Itantlian, Asian and American cusine. The portions were small, but you can order more food. El Mercado is the buffet restaurant that was open for all three meals. We only went for breakfast which was an very extensive array of various options.

Overall this is a great hotel for families and individuals that just want to relax. Be aware this is a hot spot for weddings so be prepared that depending on the location of your room you might be able to hear the music from the outside recepations. They will have multiple weddings going on at one time. I definitely will visit again.
